well we have had a few fundraisers so far. One was just going door to door selling season passes we did that in the 32 deg weather was cold but still did 2 hours worth of selling with a party at the meridian boodocks afterward. The other we havent done yet it's in the works a band and dinner big fundraiser at the boise certer on the grove. we need to get more enertainment before we kick that onen off.
we also are circulationg or begenning to circulate a coloring contest for all the schools in the meridian schol district 78 total. Where we will choose the best one and use it in promotions and on paperwork in the aquarium. If We find one good enough we might even use it in the logo or creae another one some how.

I don't know if this is a good idea or not... what about giving away a trip to Oregon Coast Aquarium? (Selling raffle tickets for $5 each (or something like that) and award it at your grand opening?? Maybe that's counter-productive? I just know I will be a frequent visitor to your facility, and I am also a frequesnt visitor to the OCA. Just an idea.
Anyone else have any ideas? Let's hear them, no matter how hair-brained you think they might be. I remember seeing that Corvette Raffle going on for years and years... I know they made some decent money on that.

interesting you should say that we have a poster/ drawing contest we have proposed in the Meridian school district they are considering it. The grand prize is $2500 for a college grant. I should also contact the other School Districts.

we will be using Raffles in to sell some of our donations that are given to us. We are also working on getting more donations businesses seem to not be as interested in this as the public is though.

How about a special screening of Finding Nemo at one of the theaters? A raffle for a salthingyer aquarium or a trip to Hawaii? An ironic, very expensive VIP dinner (sushi), complete with visible sushi chefs and fish/coral tanks. Buy-a-brick campaign. Have you looked into any grants?

you need to join the marketing committee and go over those ideas with them. Have you received that email yet?

I think banquets and raffles are a great Idea especially if they were publicized. How about getting some of the items that we might have in the Gift shop out on the market, T shirts and the such. Also posting some donation fliers in all of the local pet/ Aquarium stores would help get the word out. Most of them should be willing because sails at pet stores always increase with the introduction of a Zoo or Aquarium. Petsmart has a program where patrons can donate to the Idaho Humane Society when they check out I wonder if we could get something like that going as well?

I think you definetly need to be places with families and children. I am secretary of PTO at an Elementary school in Caldwell. We have a school carnival in April. If someone had a booth there to sell season passes, lots of families would be there. I can see if that would be ok. I know most of the schools around here have similar carnivals. That would put you in the right place. That would give you a place to sell them, it would be on a smaller scale but would also let people know about the aquarium at the same time. Just a thought!

I like the idea of a raffle of some sort. maybe and idea for a raffle could be just simply a few season passes, like a few single, doubles, and the premium family passes. I am pretty sure alot of people would buy tickets to try and win that.

Hi, I am a parent at a school in Eagle that just recently had an online auction with a local organization. It was awesome! It attracted a huge audience and think this concept would work for your fundraising efforts!!!!! Everyone would want to support this amazing aquarium and I think would work well for you. I think it you could still view it at www.ilovegalileo.com. It's awesoem and you could take donations from there too!

I think this is a great idea! an online auction would appeal to so many people!!! you could list a bunch of items in there from the gift shop or donations fromthe local community. YOu could even pre sell the season passes there, I love the idea!

Just a quick note; I can't help but notice a lot of grammatical and spelling errors on the web site as well as with topics here in forums. Might I suggest that the administrators proof read these in order to gain greater enthusiasm by potential funders making sure this is a legitimate coming attraction.

These ideas sound great. One idea is to think beyond raffles, auctions and prizes. In order to increase community involvement in the aquarium, try reaching out to corporate sponsorships. There are a lot of automotive dealers in Boise. Companies that endorse environmental causes like Toyota, Ford, Honda, GM, etc. At the aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Honda donated a minivan that advertised the aquarium and gave a large donation to furnish the movie theater inside. I think that this will help to continue to bring the community on board.
